There really isn’t a better holiday to make yourself or someone else  something wonderful! Here are a few projects I have stumbled on that would make great last minute gifts!

It has been such a weird winter. You can see the ground in many places and there are only a handful of ice-fishing shanties out on the meadows.  At this time of year there are usually 50 or more shanties and a handful of trucks out on the ice enjoying the winter fishing. I have not seen one truck dare to go out there. The mountain behind the store has ground showing and the waterfall that we don’t see until Spring (normally around May) is in full effect. Despite all of this we are still enjoying knitting fro these cooler days and nights and maybe we will get some good storms this month, but it is just so odd.

Knit or Dye’s Super Bowl Sale is begining this Saturday and ending with a Super Bowl Sunday Knitting Party from 12pm-4pm (minus the football game). We will have Super Bowl-like refreshments and great company to go along with it! Discussing my next small project with one of my customers, I happened upon this fabulous sweater from sweaterbabe! So after I finish my fully cabled Rowan cape, my 8-year colorwork sweater, and two baby sweaters, then I will make this one! I think I would use something lovely that has great stitch definition like Manos del Uruguay Rittenhouse or more Green Mountain Spinnery.  The options are endless, I love knitting!

The thermometer  reads -8 at eight AM, my first thought is, I can’t wait to snuggle up tonight with some knitting. Reality then kicks in and I remember that I have a teething 7 1/2 month old, who doesn’t allow for much time of anything. So while I comfort him in our dimly lit room, trying to get him to go to sleep I daydream about my knitting. Teaching a Fair Isle class yesterday I pulled out my eight (or maybe longer) year sweater project from the book Norsk Strikkedesign. I am about half way finished with the body, instead of their yarn I decided to use Green Mountain Spinnery’s Mountain Mohair. I cant wait to wear it especially on these single digit days, no need for a coat with this one.

Knit or Dye had its first design contest, you wouldn’t believe how many submissions we had! We are proud to announce that Michelle Joy and Patti Frankel are the winners and really came up with some great designs! Thank you to everyone who participated we are going to have another contest in the near future.

The snow is finally falling and everything is blanketed, I love it! I finally am getting to wear my Cookie-A socks. So cozy and lovely!

The river is icing over, it was a nippy 11 degrees the other night, and everyone has pulled out their hats and mittens! All we need now is some snow! My husband and I are working feverishly to add more merchandise to our new website and our poor little Wesley has a cold. At night I get about an hour of knitting in, so I am plugging away on my Rowan cape made out of “Felted Tweed Watery“. It is so beautiful, but slow-going (especially knitting in a dimly lit room with the baby).

We had a busy Holiday season and are eagerly awaiting new shipments including Manos, Frog Tree, and Rowan. I am still craving to make the heart mittens from “Adirondack Accessories” from Manos!
