September 21st, 28th & October 5th 11-2pm $45
This 3 part class will give you all the confidence and skills to make the famous “Baby Surprise Jacket” by Elizabeth Zimmerman. This sweater by far is the most popular sweater for babies to make, now you can do it too! In this class you will learn how to increase, decrease and seam the sweater closed. The pattern is included, come to class ready to purchase yarn, bring or purchase needles.
To take this class you must know how to cast on and knit.
September 22th 12-4pm $50
Learn how to use two (or more) colors in your knitting, as well as an introduction to knitting with your yarn in both hands. The hat pattern that we will be using ranges from toddler to adult, so this can be as big or small of a project as you would like. Yarn and needles are included, bring, or come to class ready to purchase your needles.
To take this class you MUST already know how to cast on, knit in the round, knit and purl in the same round and how to use circular/double point needles.
November 3rd, 10th, 17th 1-3pm $35
Keep your feet warm by learning how to make socks on double point needles! This 3 part class runs you through the steps of making your first sock so you won’t fear turning your heel or picking up the gusset. Pattern is included in cost. Come at least one week before class starts to pick out yarn (not included in price) so you can complete the homework.
Homework- Casting on and working 7″ in ribbing and/or ST ST stitch.
October 27th 11pm-5pm $95 for class or $120 for class and kit (kit includes 2oz of the four colors)
Learn the special details of mitten construction of the nomadic Saami peoples, by knitting a mitten in multiple colors, circularly on double pointed needles. Make a three color braided cast-on, create the classic afterthought thumb (without a gusset) and work different bands of patterning, and the pointed tip shaping at the end of the mitten. Some of the motifs will require three yarns to be worked within one round. A simple finger braiding technique will be demonstrated for the traditional cord. Handling multiple yarns and designing will be discussed.
Length: 6 hours
Level: Intermediate (must be proficient with dp needles, Magic Loop, or working with two circulars)
• For Adult Sized pair: 2 oz each of 4 colors of worsted weight yarn (traditional colors are white, red, yellow, green and/or blue.)
• One set of dp needles each US sizes 6 or 7 (4.0 or 4.5 mm) Approximate gauge is 24 sts and 28 rnds/4 inches or 10 cm in two-color St st.
• Tapestry needle, stitch markers, sticky notes or magnetic board for reading the charts.
